Fossemagne is set in the rustic rolling hills of the valley of the Manoire, but is conveniently located near the principal local tourist attractions.
Its ancient church, featuring a bell gable with four bays, is impressive because of the 2-meter thickness of its wall.
In the famous novel by Eugene Le Roy, Jacquou le Croquant, the village plays an important role : Lina and Jacquou, the main protagonists in the book, are married at the Fossemagne church; the ill-fated Lina drowns in the Gourd pond.
The Leisure Center of the Manoire, covering 12 hectares, is found 25 km to the east of Périgueux on the National Road 89. It includes a football stadium, a tennis court and a lake measuring 6 hectares. You may fish for carp or swim near the sunny shore, where a magnificent sand beach invites you to relax. The gentle slope of the beach and the presence of a lifeguard create a safe swimming environment for all. The spot proposes windsurfing, pedal boats, and canoeing. Not far from the water, you may stay at the two-star camping and caravanning site of the Manoire.
